Capstone project

The Capstone project is the culmination of the CPES programme in year 3 (L3): it brings together the skills acquired in mathematics, computer science, data science and the chosen specialisation discipline. Students work in teams on a real-world problem, often in collaboration with a research laboratory or an external partner.

Format and timeline

  • Team-based work over one semester (or the full year, depending on the organisation).
  • Supervised by a designated lecturer or researcher.
  • Deliverables: report, code/source files, presentation or public defence.

Assessment

Assessment takes into account the scientific and technical quality of the work, individual contribution, the presentation and the ability to situate results within their context.

The Capstone project is designed to prepare students for professional projects or for continuation in a master’s or research programme.
